(307 words) “War and Peace” is a great phenomenon in Russian classical literature, created by the unsurpassed classic of his time - Leo Tolstoy. Speaking about this novel, one cannot raise one raised problem - there are a lot of them, which makes this work so deep and multifaceted.
One of the most important issues raised by the author is the question of true happiness. The main characters are looking for their meaning of life throughout the novel and find it. Pierre Bezukhov realized that the limit of his dreams is love and family. Andrei Bolkonsky, who also once dreamed of military glory, became disillusioned with Napoleon and realized all the destructiveness, stupidity and senselessness of war. The sky near Austerlitz became for Andrey the embodiment of peaceful, good and eternal, all that in which he saw true greatness and beauty. Incidentally, the problem of real and false greatness is another problem raised in War and Peace. Leo Tolstoy claims: "There is no greatness where there is no simplicity, kindness and truth." In this case, the war does not carry anything holy and important, since it was caused only by the vanity of Napoleon, hungry for power. True power, according to the author, is possessed by a people who burn their meager, acquired by overpowering possession, if only they would not go to the enemy. This is true greatness.
Another important problem of the novel we will call true and false love. By the example of Rostov, Bezukhov and Bolkonskikh, the author shows what real pure love is, on which spiritual unions endowed with indestructible power are built. These are Pierre and Natasha, Nikolay and Marya. These families are opposed by the lying and calculating Kuragins and Drubetskys, incapable of sincerity and fidelity. They are ready for vile deeds for their own benefit, for which fate played a cruel joke with Helen and Anatole Kuragin. The author of the epic novel Leo Tolstoy presents the spiritual foundations of relationships as the driving force of the people and each individual person.
Thus, the author presents the reader with a wide range of problems, where is the place for each controversial issue of our time. That is why “War and Peace” is an actual work that helps people understand themselves and the world around them.
