A good brief retelling is the key to a successful mastery of the literature program. She, in turn, will be useful in passing the most important final exams. Therefore, authors from the Literaguru team pay special attention to writing works in abbreviation, where the main events and the plot of the book are succinctly and accurately described.
The foreword describes the sea, the port, its sounds and smells. And in the analysis of the work, we explain why this is all described in the preface. And not only.
Chapter 1
Chelkash is a thief and a drunkard, externally and internally he stood out among the people in the market he is following. The hero speaks with a loader, finds out that they are looking for him, but they have not seen a certain Bear for a long time. Chelkash goes further, he abruptly answers numerous counter friends. He was stopped by a watchman, the hero treats him familiarly. Finally, the fate of Mishka (the accomplice thief) becomes known: he ended up in the hospital. Chelkash convicts the guard in theft. The hero proceeded to the tavern and wondered who would replace Mishka.
Then he saw a peasant guy. He speaks with Chelkash. The guy talks about disadvantageous mowing, he needs money and freedom. In Chelkash, the peasant woke up some kindred feelings with his stories about the village, and he offers the guy a side job: rowing at night while "fishing". The name of the peasant Gavriloy. They went to a tavern, where Chelkash was willingly loaned. The thief went out somewhere, and Gavrila was frightened of the tavern’s oppressive atmosphere. After the return of Chelkash they began to drink. The peasant got drunk, drank almost to a loss of consciousness. The thief looked at him and realized that he could control this young life.
Chapter 2
At night, Chelkash and Gavrilo quietly sailed to business. The peasant has a hangover, the thief makes it easier when he gives a drink. Gavril is “scared” at sea, and Chelkash loves him for freedom and vastness. The peasant interrupted the contemplation of the water by the logical question, where is the gear? A thief advises a random accomplice to do his job and not ask too much. Then they called their boat, Gavrilo barely managed to scoop up to the harbor, having spent all his strength. He realized that the matter was dark and began to beg Chelkash to let him go. He refuses and forces the accomplice to stop "whining". But the peasant’s hands literally fall, he cannot row. To motivate him, Chelkash takes away his passport from Gavrila before climbing onto some wall where they have raked. The peasant was afraid, he wanted, but could not escape. Gavrilo began to look forward to the thief.
Soon he came with something “cubic and heavy.” Half the job done. Gavrila wanted to quickly get rid of this dark matter, if everything is successful - he will serve a prayer service to Nicholas the Wonderworker. It remains only one cordon to pass, and then everything will end. When they came closer to him, the peasant wanted to convey to the accomplice, but he was seized by horror. After another stress - the customs cruiser - the danger passed. Because of all the excitement of this night, Gavrilo was half dead. Chelkash promises a quadruple ticket for work. He boasts of his craft: you don’t have to “climb out of your skin” all your life, you don’t need 500 rubles a night, if the peasant would make his farm the first in the village.
The thief was also a peasant, he was inspired by these memories. Gavrilo expresses the idea that without land anywhere (that is, puts himself above Chelkash). He got angry, and then began to remember his life: mother, father, himself young, beautiful wife, then service, after which everything changed. Soon, accomplices sailed to the barge, where they climbed to get money and overnight.
Chapter 3
Chelkash woke Gavril, the thief was already dressed decently, and not in rags. He laughs at the peasant's fears. It’s time for them to sail back. Chelkash received 540 rubles, this money amazes Gavril. He shakes with greed when a thief gives him 40 rubles. The peasant passionately tells what can be done with money. After their arrival, the excitement of Gavrila took such a form that even Chelkash became uneasy. The peasant rushes to his knees, humiliatingly begging for money. It becomes disgusting to the thief that his accomplice loses human dignity for the sake of the "nickle". But it gives money. Gavrilo rejoices and humiliates thanks, confessing that he wanted to kill the accomplice because of them.
Chelkash got angry, grabbed him by the throat and took the money, and then threw him on the sand. The peasant threw a stone at his head. The thief has fallen. Gavrilo escaped, but later returned and began to ask for forgiveness and give back the money. Chelkash takes 10 rubles, gives the rest back and, staggering, leaves. And rain washes away all traces of people staying in the sand.
