Here is a review for the reader’s diary, and a very brief summary of the novel can be found here.
(260 words) Times change, and topics such as love, friendship, or individuality do not lose their relevance. Questions will always be, but there is no universal answer. And you can try to find it in the novel by A. Pushkin "Eugene Onegin." This is one of the greatest works of the 19th century.
In Onegin, the author raised a lot of topics and problems. But what is the main idea of the novel? In my opinion, the answer is this: a person can become a victim of society and his era if he lacks will and personality. And the author’s position is that one must not succumb to the influence of the environment. No wonder Tatyana, who was different from typical secular young ladies, receives happiness and peace in her home, and Eugene, who copied the established patterns of behavior and was spoiled by light, lost his love and became an extra person.
I really like this novel. I like the fact that here the characters change throughout the work, and this makes the book even more interesting. For example, at first Tatyana is a young girl who dreams of love from French novels. But then she becomes more mature, wiser and understands her responsibility. She would gladly leave with Eugene, but now she is married, she has a duty that cannot be neglected. From frivolous books, the girl “moved” to real life and became a noble, exalted and worthy socialite.
What does the book teach? Eugene Onegin can teach us a lot: love, devotion, friendship, and the fact that we should not allow society to rule us. No wonder this novel is relevant in our time, in the 21st century. After all, all the topics that are raised in this work are familiar to us. I am sure that after 200 or even 300 years, people will read the novel and recognize themselves in the heroes.
